Reflection

Hi bloggers!
I'm back, and this time it is to give a reflection of what the project was like and what I learned from this experience.

This project allowed me to do things I had never done before. Although it was a little challenging at times it gave me new knowledge of technologies like YouTube and Blogger. Before this project, I had never used YouTube as an app to upload things. I have always simply been a viewer and enjoyer of content. But through this project, I have learned the steps to follow to successfully upload something into YouTube. I learned about having to first have the video downloaded on my device to be able to put it into YouTube. I also learned that if a video is under 60 seconds it’ll be a YouTube short and not an actual video.
Blogger was a technology I had never used before this project. Before this, I had never even heard of the app. So because of this assignment, I learned how to navigate through it and do things like make an account, make posts, edit posts, change into HTLM view, add media, and more.

Through the process of putting together this commercial, I learned I must be careful with my time management. Though specific parts of the project seemed simple at first, they can be more trivial than expected, so procrastination must be avoided. With keeping up with blogs, editing clips together, using new applications, etc., time can get away easily. I learned that starting the project as early as possible is the smartest choice. Doing the project little by little leaves time to review and edit mistakes. I noticed that picking out media may seem like an easy task, but can end up being really time-demanding. Having (at least) an idea of the clips and song(s) you want to use is the smartest route to go because it'll make the actual editing part so much smoother. Leaving the choosing part until the day the assignment is due will have you stressed and dissatisfied with the end result.

Although I really loved how my commercial came out, there were definitely some things I could've improved on. Firstly, I procrastinated on some days when I had plenty of time to get the work done. Doing this had me stressed and compelled me to turn in subpar work. Though I work diligently under pressure, on some occasions it forced me to turn in some things without doing a thorough checkover. So for my next project, even if I don't immediately complete everything all at once, I will give myself more time to work on things rather than the night they're due. Also, next time, I want to be slightly more picky with the fonts and colors I use. I like it when videos and projects as such have a uniform look/vibe, so being picky with aspects like that can aid with that.

Doing this commercial taught me a lot of new things and introduced me to technology I would have never expected to work with. Though it wasn't an award-winning video, I enjoyed my final outcome and hope to improve my video-making skills.
