Re editing blog: some more changes

Image
Hi bloggers! I'm glad you've tuned in again. In the last blog, I claimed editing was over. That was unfortunately a lie. I am someone who likes things to be very close to perfect. So instead of stamping the film "as finished", I went in and tried to edit it more. I watched the film over and over. I wanted to see if anything caught my eye. I wanted to try and catch the tiniest of mistakes. I also wanted to see if specific transitions worked better than others. So after watching continuously, watching intensely, I added a couple little things. To some, the things I added would not be necessary. But I have a specific taste and a detailed opinion. I wanted the film to give a particular vibe. This is why I added and took away many things.   The process of editing process this film has been a challenging experience. It has taught me the importance of attention to detail and patience. The impact of editing on the overall quality of the film cannot be overstated. It is the

Reshoot blog: Just one tiny change!

Image
Hi bloggers!  After many days of working on my film, I decided it was finished. But, after scrolling through YouTube for a while I came across some horror shorts. These shorts inspired me. They reminded me why I enjoyed horror so much.  They reminded me of the emotion that goes into such a genre. The shorts weren't Grammy winners nor very popular. But they still had a lot of effort put into them. So after originally scrolling mindlessly, I got motivated to make my film better. I wanted to enhance any possibility of creepiness or discomfort for my film.  So I got to reshooting. I didn't reshoot many scenes. I just did the ones where I felt I could do significantly better. I asked my sister for some help. I asked for some advice from her. I also asked her to film for me. In the scenes I reshot I was walking around a lot. This caused me to need some aid from someone (my sister).  After seeing the end result I was very proud. I'm glad I decided to reshoot some scenes and add so

Editing Blog: just some more tweaks

Image
Hi bloggers! I am very ecstatic to write this blog!!:) This blog is basically an explanation of what I changed since my film review. Though I was very satisfied with the film then, there is always room for improvement. In the film review, I explained I was doing a lot of editing and moving things around. This allowed me to learn new skills. It also taught me to be very patient. Looking very closely at a video for long periods is strenuous. But I did it anyway to perfect the film. This pickiness reminded me patience is very important.  Moving on, after all of that hassle I went and looked for an outside opinion.  I asked some family and a few friends to look at my film. After watching my film I asked for input. Upon receiving their opinions I went back to watch the film on my own. Though it seems redundant, I wanted to see if I noticed the flaws they did. And because I'm open-minded, I implemented some of the changed they suggested. I eliminated unnecessary elements that did not ad

Editing Blog: Checking tiny details

Image
Hi bloggers!! I'm glad you've joined me again! In this blog, I was working to just check the little details in editing that could be altered. I also tested to see if my film could go from great to extraordinary. Our work was compared to other opening scenes after considering it. In most famous horror movies, many elements bring suspense. I continuously looked between my own film and others of the same genre. I was checking to see if I could find similarities and checking where I could add anything. I wanted the eerieness to be enhanced. So though our film looked good, I wanted to see if it could get even better. We decided to use another popular editing application. This app Imovie on iPhone is very popular so I was excited to check it out. Apple's iMovie is exclusive to Apple devices. Even though we haven't used it for a while, it's not something new to us. The same editing steps were followed. But, we used different transitions and fonts. I noticed that one of the

Editing Blog: putting things in place

Image
Hi bloggers! Now that filming was done, it was time for me (and my partner) to get to editing the film.  Previous to the editing, it was cool to see all the separate clips. Taking time to cut them and make them smooth was very satisfying as well. Seeing the final product really amazed me, but it took time and effort before this came.  The app that my partner and I will use to put my final task together is Capcut. Both of us have previously used CapCut for both our own work and our own enjoyment. Both of us already have an existing account, so there's no need to sign up. It is easy for me to get started. For my last project, I was provided the editor role.  Because of this, I had a CapCut account ready for use. Not only was it already ready for me to use, I was quite familiar with it. We had to cut my scenes to the right length as soon as we started. There were a few scenes that were too long. Some of the other scenes had a few seconds of us acting out of character. I needed to take

Production blog: music choice

Image
Hi bloggers! Now this blog is going to talk about the music choice of the process. We had to choose music before we started shooting. We wanted something that made sense based on our pitch. We needed to maintain a strategic distance from the issues concerning inquiring a craftsman to use their music. We didn't ask for permission to use a tune, we went with sovereign-free tunes. You can find a lot of top-notch music sites online. Through surfing these websites, we are ready to discover a melody that will be the culmination of our last assignment. I stumbled upon a site called 'epidemicsound.com. I shared this site with my cousin, allowing us to explore different sounds to see which would be the best for us. The site featured a lot of tunes that my cousins and I liked. The tunes created a feeling that you'd discover in a frightful film. That feeling of not knowing what will happen next. You feel stressed out for a character. You know a panic is coming. Our melody was exactly

Filming Blog: final moments of filming

Image
Hi bloggers! I am back, and this blog is to talk more about the filming process. My cousin and I were very focused and were able to get the filming done all in one day. As previously stated in the other blog, the filming was done in my home.  Because of this, I was in charge of cleanliness. I was constantly making sure there weren't any messes made. And if there were any, it was my job to make sure they were cleaned up. The clothes I wore weren't anything new or special. They came from my closet. But although they weren't new, they still were still specific. I didn't want to wear anything bright and joyful because that would contrast the theme. So, I searched through my closet to find distinct clothes I wanted. As I previously said, my partner and I were very determined to get the filming done.  And not only determined to get it finished, but I put stress on wanting the film to be very concise. When I saw tiny mistakes I pointed them out. And with these critiques, there

Filming blog: the start

Image
Hi bloggers! I am back with a new blog! This blog is about the preparation of the filming process for this final task. For this task, I had one partner, my cousin.  We spent a long time planning when we would get together. Because of our busy schedules, we had to be tactical about when we could film. We decided on the weekend since that is when we both are the least busy. After deciding on the date of the filming, I started to make sure there would be no interruptions. By this I mean, I warned my family members to not be distracting. I also told them that I would need them to not be too loud. My last request was that they didn't move anything I put into place. Because I have a big family this was a little bit difficult. They were sometimes unintentionally clamorous. When they made mistakes, that messed up some clips. When clips were ruined by unnecessary background noise we had to reshoot them. This made the filming process longer than it should've been. The video would be film
